The problem

Salary data is everywhere. Trusted salary data is not.

Job postings show advertised maximums. Surveys arrive months late. Platforms estimate without disclosure. None of it tells you what a number actually represents or where it came from.

01

Sources disagree — and that's useful

Different methodologies produce different numbers for the same role. The median from a government census, a salary platform estimate, and a job posting are not the same thing. Treating them as equivalent is how bad pay decisions happen.

Source disagreement is valuable information, not noise to smooth over
02

Freshness is invisible

A 12-month-old survey result and a 2-week-old platform estimate look identical in a spreadsheet. Without freshness tracking, you don't know if you're pricing against current reality or last year's guess.

Data age matters — ABS quarterly data vs annual surveys have different staleness
03

No one shows their work

Most salary tools give you a number with no explanation of what it represents. Is it a government统计 figure? A platform estimate? An advertised range? The evidence type determines how you should use it.

Evidence classification — every record tagged by type so you know what you're looking at

Multi-source intelligence

See the market from every angle at once.

SalaryIQ consolidates evidence from government statistics, salary platforms, public-sector pay scales, and curated reports — then classifies each record so you know exactly what type of evidence you're looking at.

  • 8 evidence types. Official earnings, public-sector scales, salary-platform estimates, advertised salary, market salary, regulatory floors, internal hiring evidence, and more.
  • Benchmark eligibility per source. Official earnings and public-sector scales are excluded from market aggregation so they don't distort your benchmarks.
  • Source transparency. Every record carries its source, effective date, retrieval date, and evidence classification. No black boxes.

Methodology

Good benchmarks are a supply chain, not a spreadsheet.

Every number in SalaryIQ can be traced back to where it came from, what type of evidence it is, and how fresh it is. If a source doesn't meet our quality bar, we tell you instead of smoothing it over.

1

Multi-source ingestion

Records arrive from government statistics (ABS), salary platforms (Talent.com), public-sector pay scales (WageCalculator), and curated reports. Each source is independently acquired and validated.

2

Evidence classification

Every record is classified by evidence type — official earnings, public-sector scale, salary-platform estimate, advertised salary, market salary, or regulatory floor. Classification is deterministic and transparent.

3

Benchmark eligibility

Official-earnings and public-sector-scale records are excluded from market benchmark aggregation so they don't distort your median. You see the raw evidence AND the curated benchmark.

4

Freshness tracking

Every record carries its effective date and retrieval date. You see data age (how old is the underlying data) and retrieval age (how recently we fetched it) independently.

Questions

What you probably want to know.

Where does the data actually come from?
From multiple independent sources: ABS Employee Earnings (government statistical data), WageCalculator (APS/state public-sector pay scales), Talent.com (salary platform estimates), and curated reports. Each source is independently acquired, validated, and classified by evidence type.
Why do different sources show different numbers for the same role?
Because they measure different things. A government census captures actual reported earnings. A salary platform aggregates self-reported or employer-submitted estimates. A job posting shows the advertised range. These are genuinely different signals. We preserve that disagreement rather than smoothing it into a single misleading number.
What does "evidence type" mean?
Every record is classified into one of 8 evidence types: market_salary (recruitment/curated data), advertised_salary (job postings), official_earnings (government statistics), regulatory_floor (minimum wage), public_sector_scale (government pay scales), salary_platform_estimate (aggregator data), internal_hiring_evidence (proprietary), and other (unclassified). This tells you what the number represents.
What happens when sources disagree?
We show you both. Source disagreement is valuable information — it tells you where the market is uncertain. A government figure and a platform estimate for the same role may legitimately differ. We don't hide that disagreement.
How fresh is the data?
It depends on the source. ABS data is updated quarterly. Talent.com data is fetched periodically. We track both data age (when the underlying data was collected) and retrieval age (when we last fetched it) independently, so you know exactly how current each number is.
What's the strongest coverage?
Currently Australia and Oceania. We have 3,600+ Australia observations across 4 evidence types from 6 sources. We're expanding to broader APAC markets.
